
Detox Salt Bath Recipe
If you're looking for a relaxing way to detox, try a bath with natural salts like Epsom salt, sea salt, or Himalayan pink salt. Salts help draw out toxins, ease muscle tension, and promote relaxation. Epsom salt is great for replenishing magnesium levels, which can reduce stress and inflammation. Adding essential oils like lavender or eucalyptus makes the experience even better. Just dissolve a cup or two in warm water and soak for at least 20 minutes. It’s a great self-care ritual!
Here is my go to base recipe, you can make changes to what you have on hand.
1 -2 cups of Epsom salts or magnesium flakes (I often do a 50/50 mix, see below for more details)
1/2 cup Himalayan or sea salt (whatever you have on hand, both beneficial with a slightly different mineral content)
1/2 cup baking soda
6-12 drops of essential oil of choice (lavender and eucalyptus are a great choice!)
1 tablespoon of jojoba oil (or other carrier oil)
A bit more on magnesium: epsom salt and magnesium flakes both provide magnesium. Epsom salt contains magnesium and sulfate, helps with muscle relaxations, stress relief and detox. The sulfate lends extra aid to supporting liver detox and joint health. Epsom salts are a bit gentler on your skin and your pocket book.
Magnesium flakes contains magnesium and chloride. They are more easily absorbed by the skin than epsom salt, but I find them a bit stronger on my skin than epsom salt, and wait to add until I have a good amount of water in the tub. Magnesium flakes are more ideal and potent for boosting your magnesium levels and deep muscle relaxation.
Magnesium also helps with sleep, circulations. and skin hydration.
Remember, health is holistic, all encompassing. Unplug and take the time to relax your mind, read a book, or pray. Match your essential oil blend to enhance your bath experience and goals, essential oils are powerful aids to both the physical and mental body.
